About Us
Company History
Approved Oil has been providing exceptional service in New York City since 1937. Over the years, we have supplemented our Oilheat delivery with important new services that greatly benefit our customers. We now offer total care for our customers' heating equipment, including preventive maintenance, emergency service and installation of new equipment. Our service contracts provide regular preventive maintenance and help  control repair costs.
We have also added a number of services that make it easier to buy fuel. Our budget plan makes payment more manageable, and our price protection protects customers against inflation.
Exceptional service and innovation have helped Approved Oil become the largest family-owned oil company in New York City. We recently grew our business fivefold in a 10-years span, and we now have 150 employees and 84 vehicles. Despite our phenomenal growth, we are as committed as ever to the needs of each individual customer. We've come a long way with this philosophy, and we will never waver.
In the Community
Approved Oil gives back to the City and the Metropolitan Area by supporting numerous local organization and causes. Our community activities include the following:
- We funded a fitness center for Xaverian High School, in Brooklyn, which opened in the fall of 2008. The Xaverian Brothers named Approved Oil President Vincent Theurer Man of the Year for 2008.
- We were the largest heating oil/gas vendor for the Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies for the last eight years.
- We have provided donations and support to many groups and institutions, including the following: Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Brooklyn; Wagner College, Staten Island; Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation; New York Institute for Psychotherapy Training; St. Athanasius Church, Brooklyn; Alive in Hope Foundation; St. Jude Children's Hospital; Notre Dame Academy for Women, Staten Island; The Rubin Museum of Art, New York, NY.
Awards
Approved Oil won multiple categories in the U.S. Diesel Truckin' Nationals in Englishtown, NJ. Approved Oil took the #1 spot overall, competing with truckers throughout the East Coast in categories such as cleanliness, design and efficiency.
